Antennafacts

The standards of the ICFO are applied in a liberal way considering the size of the foundations, followed by an analysis of specific aspects.

Stichting Antenna revises its website regularly (see www.archive.org) and Michael Polman gives invited interviews. The same is true for Swiss representatives. However, it seems to be a fundamental that critical questions with regard to financing and structure are never raised.

Some relevant documents for the entities can be found on Scribd (scribd.com)  in the collection „Antenna Technologies Data“.

None of the organisations discussed below contributes to the „International Aid Transparency Initiative“ (iatiregistry.org) or is listed as formally associated in the databases of major European or International Organisations.

Stichting Antenna (Netherlands)
www.antenna.nl

Dutch Trade Register listing (www.kvk.nl)? yes (41057546)

Certified? No mention on website, not listed with tax authorities as an ANBI (belastingsdienst.nl),  or CBF (cbf.nl, central bureau for fundraising).

Standard 1  (Governing Body)
The Board of „Stichting Antenna“ consists of two persons, one of its founders and director for many years Michael Frans Polman (born 01.08.1956 in Baden, Switzerland) and (since 2008) Patrice Riemens as the treasurer. Until 2008 two other founders held positions in the Stichting Antenna.

It is worthwhile to watch a lengthy video in which Riemens discusses NGOs (and the need for „evaluation“ of their activities) in general and Antenna Technologies in particular.

Standard 2 (Public Benefit Goals)
Stichting Antenna has registered nine trade names: Antenna, Antenna Technologie, Antenna Technologies, Antenna Worldguide, Antenna COBRA, Antenna LINE, Antenna CAMPUS, Antenna Spirulina, Spirulize Your Life. In addition, Stichting Antenna is a stakeholder of Stichting Interdoc Conference (KVK No.: 801468012, Surinameweg 4, 6524SX Nijmegen). The mission seems to be „progress“ but it is not evident what this term means for Antenna. Who is responsible for the operations and how the activities (or their lack of) indicated by the trade names contribute to whatever kind of progress remains open. The Spirulina shop was closed recently.

Stichting Antenna also offers services  via its website „antenna.nl“ like a commercial Internet Service Provider (ISP) especially for church organisations. Some of them give the term „progress“ a fairly unexpected turn. The index of the website is an inconclusive mix of own and otherwise hosted, working and defunct websites. Strangely the cults most close to Antenna are not hosted.

For some prominent organisations listed a whois-analysis did not confirm the implied connection (see below). For others the connection seems intransparent and indirect. In metatags for search engines in May 2015 Stichting Antenna e.g. claims to represent the „Association for Progressive Communication“ in the Netherlands (apc.org). It is, however, neither a member nor an affiliate of the APC.

Website analyses (e.g. alexa.com) indicate a very limited audience for „antenna.nl“. Given the many labels and indirect connections, Stichting Antenna could be regarded as a significant ISP on the market. A cursory look on the name servers  shows more than 500 domains connected to Antenna (see documents). However, these domains cannot be equated  with the more than 500 customers mentioned occasionally by Antenna’s director. The number of customers is much lower and as impressive as websites look viewed on in isolation, most of them cater to a specialized audience (see below).

Standard 3 (Financial Responsibilities)
